Legislation of Health & Safety - PUWER
Compliance with PUWER (Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations) is necessary for those who operate or have control over work equipment. The Regulations were created within the scope of the "
Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974" (HSW Act) and came into force on 5 December 1998.
The main objective of
PUWER is to guarantee the provision of safe work equipment over the whole service life, irrespective of its state, age or origin - this in turns ensures health and safety in the workplace is always at the forefront of any company activities.
PUWER Regulations cover management requirements for areas such as maintenance systems, training and instructions and the physical aspects of work equipment itself, such as dangerous parts of machinery, controls, and isolation.
